After falling the "iron curtain" in the mid 80s Russian scientists got a freedom of border crossing and, at the same time, a choice of where to continue their scientific carreers. Many of them, especially young 20-30 years old scientists, relocated to the West for permanent or contract job.

INFO-RUSS List by Alexander Kaplan Originally founded to facilitate communication between graduates of Moscow Institute of Science and Technology working permanently or temporarily abroad. Contains FizTekh-list with e-mail addresses of about 400 fiztekh alumni living outside Russia. Serves communication between ~1200 our countryparts on various problems.
